Cappella di San Galgano a Montesiepi
Perched on a hill above the Abbey ruins, the Montesiepi Hermitage is a remarkable 12th-century chapel built over the hut where Saint Galgano Guidotti, a former knight, spent his final days as a hermit. The site is famous for housing the legendary “Sword in the Stone,” which Galgano is said to have thrust into the rock as a symbol of his renunciation of violence and worldly life.
