We met in December of 2021 at our church's national general conference. I hadn’t planned on going, but my friend Lupita surprised me and bought my ticket without telling me, so I went because how does one say no to a free ticket to NYC? I went into that weekend with the mindset of serving God and being as introverted as possible. I remember one Saturday service, I was in the back searching for a friend, going from room to room trying to find her. At one point, I stepped into a room, looked around, didn’t see who I was looking for, and moved on. To me it was just another quick moment in a busy weekend, but God had other plans. I didn’t think much about that weekend until a few days later, when Uzi followed me on Instagram. He’d occasionally reply to my stories or react to something funny I posted, and after a while I finally asked, ‘Okay wait… do I know you? That question turned into conversations, and those conversations turned into something more. A few weeks in, he told me that he had actually been in one of those rooms I walked into while I was searching for my friend. From there, what started as a simple connection grew into a friendship, and that friendship quickly turned into feelings. By April 2022, he flew to Colorado so we could officially meet in person. By August 2022, we finally made it official. 4 years, many flights, and many goodbyes later, here we are, living proof of God’s perfect timing. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart...." Proverbs 3:5-6 So moral of the story: trust God’s timing… and maybe don’t say no to a free ticket to NYC, because you might just meet your future husband.
