Los Guachimontones represents the largest discovered site of the Teuchitlan culture that once flourished in the Tequila Valley region between 300 BC-900 AD/CE. The reconstructed site is know for distinct circular, step pyramid structures. The accompanying Interpretive Center were created to help people learn about the lost culture. Los Guachimontones is part of the 'Agave Landscape and Ancient Industrial Facilities of Tequila' UNESCO world heritage site. Located only about 20 minutes away from Hacienda El Carmen. Please note it is a steep incline hike from the Interpretive Center to the actual archaeological site.

This is best found at the historic center with surpassingly beautiful colonial-era churches and mansions, colorful flowers and orange trees. Walk the popular Calle Independencia, a vibrant pedestrian street lined with shops, restaurants and colorful decorations. Visit the numerous ceramic and artisan museums. Keep you ears open to find mariachi and folklore dance.
