The Wedding Website of Anna Tatakis and Santiago Serna
Athens city center is a bustling city with many boutique and smaller hotels tucked into its vibrant neighborhoods. Because of the hotel types and May being high season, we are unable to secure a hotel block for guests. We recommend booking accommodations as early as possible because it is peak season! We’ve shared a list of recommended hotels in the document linked below under "Hotel" - along with notes on locations to help you choose what’s best for your trip. AirBNB/VRBO is also readily available and affordable - we recommend looking in areas as outlined in the document! We will be providing transportation to and from the wedding venue from at least one central spot: in front of Public in Syntagma Square. If it is easy to make your way to this central spot you can utilize our group transport. We may offer an additional route(s) depending on where people book we will determine closer to the wedding!

You can use the Uber app in Athens, and it functions to call licensed taxis (not personal vehicles). Metro: Metro 3 Line connects airport to Athens city center Bus: Bus X95 takes you to Syntagma Square

Travel Note

Getting Around Athens

The best way to explore central Athens is on foot—most of the city’s major sights, neighborhoods, shops, and cafés are within easy walking distance. The metro is also reliable, affordable, and connects all the main areas. Trains run frequently (~5:30AM-12:30AM). You can also use taxis to get around, there are many but sometimes may be difficult to flag down. The Uber app functions to call taxis, and Athens also uses the app "FreeNow" as another app to book taxis. GoogleMaps has offline maps, and other apps (ie CityMapper) have functionalities to get around without internet.

Ferries/Ports

If you are ferrying to/from the islands - Athens has three main ports: Piraeus, Rafina, and Lavrio. Piraeus is the largest and busiest, and accessible via metro, bus and car from downtown Athens. Rafina is the second largest and closest to the airport. Lavrio is a smaller port on the southeastern tip of Attica.
