Travel Note

Location, Location, Location

As our wedding is intimate, we have not blocked rooms. For your stay, I would recommend booking a hotel (or rental home) in Carmel-by-the-Sea if you want to be in a walkable location and have a more flexible budget. In Carmel-by-the-Sea, you are just a mile or so from our home and are able to walk to the beloved shops, restaurants and art galleries (including Robert's!) — and also to the beach. It is a fairytale town and not to be missed! You could go without getting a rental car and be set staying downtown. There are also convenient and lovely options in Pebble Beach, Monterey, Carmel, Carmel Valley, and Carmel Highlands. Big Sur is stunning — you should take the drive down the 1 to see it! — but is also 40+ minutes away so not as convenient to the wedding location.

Transportation

The closest airport to us is the Monterey Regional Airport. I would try to fly through there if possible because it is so conveniently located. It is 6.4 miles from our home, just an 11 minute drive. (A 7-20 minute drive from all of the hotels we have recommended). Rental cars are available. Carmel is about a 2-hour drive from San Francisco and a 6-hour drive from Los Angeles. The next closest airport is the San Jose Mineta International Airport. It's a 1 hour and 15 minute drive. The San Francisco International Airport is about 2 hours away. We kindly request that all guests take an Uber to and from the wedding in order to not disturb our neighbors and to reserve close street parking for vendors. Hotels

I have highlighted a several hotel options below that I recommend for different reasons - please note the descriptions. That said, Carmel-by-the-Sea has 42 inns so I encourage you to do your own research to find just the right place for you. Getting a rental home could also be a nice way to experience Carmel-by-the-Sea. Hotel stays can be pricey in the area. The first 5 options listed below are more budget-friendly options. Carmel Mission Inn

Carmel Mission Inn is in Carmel just 1.5 miles away from our home and - as of my writing this - has rooms for under $400 per night. It is walking distance to both the Crossroads and Carmel Rancho shopping centers - each with shops, restaurants, and cafes.

Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel And Spa On Del Monte Golf Course

The Hyatt Regency has nice, clean accommodations and is a quick 4 mile, 8 minute drive from the venue. It is conveniently located right off of the highway. As of writing this, you can get a room for the wedding weekend for around $400 / night.

This spot is in downtown Monterey and has rooms available for $400 a night the weekend of the wedding. It is a half mile walk to Fisherman's Wharf.

This hotel in Old Town / Downtown Monterey has rooms available around $300 per night.

I love the lounge in this hotel! I think it has great value. It is a family-friendly hotel that is walking distance to popular nearby attractions. Currently rooms available for around $400 / night. It is a 15+ minute uber ride from our home.

La Playa Hotel

This historic 75 room Carmel-by-the-Sea hotel was once a mansion built in 1905 by an artist as a gift to his wife, a member of the Ghirardelli family. It has lovely grounds and is just two blocks from Carmel Beach, and 1.2 miles from the wedding location.

Mission Ranch

The Mission Ranch is owned by former Carmel mayor, Clint Eastwood. It is a short Uber to our wedding (1.8 miles) and also into town (1 mile). It is along the coast on 22 acres. Mission Ranch has a variety of unique lodging options ranging from the rustic Bunkhouse, the 1850's Farmhouse or the new Meadowview rooms with whirlpool tubs, fireplaces and private patio decks or balconies. They have a very popular and tasty restaurant and bar with ocean views.

The Hotel Carmel is a sweet boutique hotel located in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea. A fun spot to stay in if you want to be able to walk around the town and down to the beach.

Cypress Inn

The Cypress Inn is one of Carmel-by-the-Sea's most beloved boutique hotels. It was part owned by Doris Day for more than 20 years so it has a fun old Hollywood feel to it. Live music and tasty cocktails in Terry's Lounge. 1 mile from wedding venue - great walkable location.

Vagabond's House Inn

Vagabond is ranked as the top bed-and-breakfast in Carmel-by-the-Sea. You will need to stay a minimum of 3 nights to rent one of the 11 rooms here. Breakfast in bed daily! One mile from wedding venue.

Hyatt Highlands

Hyatt Highlands is great place to stay if would like ocean views. Their restaurant (Pacific's Edge) and Sunset Lounge overlook the Pacific Ocean with views of Big Sur. It's just 5.3 miles from our house, a 12 minute drive. It is in Carmel Highlands, not Carmel-by-the-Sea, so it is not a walkable location.

Quail Lodge & Golf Club

This is an ideal spot for those who want to play golf, rent e-bikes, or play put-put. This hotel has a lovely lounge and restaurant. It is in Carmel Valley, 4.7 miles away from our house - a 10 minute drive.

5 star Pebble Beach hotel on the coast with golfing and wonderful ocean-view dining.
