Anna & Riley Are (Finally) Getting Married!

Things To Do - Enjoy Troy :)

The Wedding Website of Anna Catherine Wysocki and Riley William Bacon
Troy is a city that in all the nice familial ways is reminiscent of a small town. Local business owners tend to like and support one another and thanks to that, there’s a lot of cool things happening in the region. @aroundtroy and @downtowntroyny on instagram are wonderful resources that showcase some of the best sights and experiences if you wanted to do your own research :) One of our favorite things to do is simply flaneur through the whimsical streets of the historical beauty that is Troy, New York. Second street is beautiful (featured largely in Max’s The Gilded Age - they were filming the newest season as we moved into our current apartment in late August and shut down a lot of the surrounding streets) and one of my favorite quick walking loops is from Monument Square down to Washington Park. The photo above was taken on the cobblestone street of Washington Place adjacent to the park. But for more personalized requests, read on below:
Troy Waterfront Farmers Market (Summer)

Troy Waterfront Farmers Market (Summer)

Monument Square, Troy, NY 12180

Following the first night we spent in our first apartment, we woke up to the sun shining through our gorgeous windows and the sounds from a lovely live music performance at the Troy Farmer’s Market below. It was magical. I think about that moment a lot and how perfect a Saturday morning in Troy can be <3 Check out the Troy Farmer’s Market if you plan to arrive before the wedding! It is filled with delicious food, interesting art / local goods, and oodles of smiling faces & friendly doggos. Anna & Grace worked for Brown’s Brewing Company for the Troy Farmer’s Market for a couple of summers, which really began our deep appreciation for the small town feel of the historical beauty that is Troy, New York. Surrounding the market, you can meander through the small alleys filled with charming businesses.

The Dutch Udder Craft Ice Cream

The Dutch Udder Craft Ice Cream

282 River Street, Troy, NY 12180

Hankering for a sweet treat? GO. HERE. Since moving to Troy, a (proud) large portion of Riley’s diet has become the ice cream cookie-wich from the Dutch Udder. They have literal hundreds of flavors constantly rotating and consistently win national prizes for their stuff! You can’t go wrong with anything here - plus you are transported to a magical candy land in this cozy little spot on River Street.

Yellow Lab Vintage & Books

Yellow Lab Vintage & Books

9 Broadway, Troy, NY 12180

This is one of the coolest antique stores I have ever been to… and tends to have really reasonable prices! I love just popping in and noticing something new that catches my eye (and perhaps partaking in some shopping along the way, if the thrift speaks to me) You can follow them on instagram @yellow.lab.vint and check out their style :)

Brown's Brewing Company's Troy Taproom and Brewery

Brown's Brewing Company's Troy Taproom and Brewery

417 River Street, Troy, NY 12180

Brown’s Brewing Company! If you’re from the area, you have definitely heard of this incredible, family-run small business - whether it be rave reviews about their beer, bringing home all the leftovers from your dinner at the restaurant, or attending one of their many events! Check this place out :)

Arts Center of the Capital Region

265 River Street, Troy, NY 12180

We were really privileged to live next door to the Arts Center for a year. It really opened my eyes to all that they do for the local community (art classes, fundraisers, galas, rotating art exhibitions, haunted houses, etc.). If you have some time to kill, you won’t regret walking in and browsing their collection (almost always for free)
