Things To Do in Chicago

The Wedding Website of Anna Christine Herold and Mark Joseph Trautman
If you’re visiting for the weekend and getting in a day early or have time to spare Saturday morning, see below for our personal recommendations for best ways to enjoy Chicago! We also included some of our favorite places to grab a quick bite.
Cubs Game @ Wrigley Field

Cubs Game @ Wrigley Field

1060 West Addison Street, Chicago, IL 60613

The Chicago Cubs play the STL Cardinals on Friday, September 26 at 1:20pm! Highly recommend ordering a Goose Island IPA and classic stadium hotdog at the game.

Lakefront Trail

Lakefront Trail

Lakefront Trail, Chicago, IL

The best skyline views can be found on the Lakefront Trail, which stretches over 15 miles north/south of the city. If you’re staying close to or at The Drake, Oak Street Beach and the trail are a 5 minute walk.

Mark & Anna’s Favorite Bagels - Gotham Bagels

Mark & Anna’s Favorite Bagels - Gotham Bagels

1212 North Dearborn Street, Chicago, IL 60610

See the photo - no description needed! You have to place an order online for pickup.

Chicago River Boat Architecture Tours

Chicago River Boat Architecture Tours

465 North McClurg Court, Chicago, IL 60611

We’re locals and have gone on multiple architecture boat tours - super interesting history and a beautiful way to catch the city / the lake. If you have a few hours to kill on Friday or Saturday morning, this is definitely worth checking out!

Nature Boardwalk & Lincoln Park Zoo

Nature Boardwalk & Lincoln Park Zoo

2121 North Stockton Drive, Chicago, IL 60614

Admission to the Zoo is free, but reserving tickets on their website is recommended in case of crowds. Highly recommend exploring the park that connects to the zoo and North Ave Beach as well!

London House Rooftop

London House Rooftop

85 East Wacker Drive, Chicago, IL 60601

If you’re staying close to downtown, the London House hotel rooftop bar has some of the best views in the city! (You don’t need to be a guest to visit / enjoy some cocktais either.)

Chicago Riverwalk

Chicago Riverwalk

22 East Wacker Drive, Chicago, IL 60601

The riverwalk (multiple entrances) has several restaurants, bars, and shops. Highly recommend checking out City Winery and an architecture boat tour after!

The Original Pancake House

The Original Pancake House

22 East Bellevue Place, Chicago, IL 60611

A local spot and one of our favorites for breakfast! They don’t take reservations and there is sometimes a line, but they move fairly quickly. Recommend getting here early before 10am to avoid a wait!

Magnificent Mile

Magnificent Mile

Chicago, IL 60611

If you want to shop (and don’t mind crowds), Michigan Avenue has tons of big stores (Zara, Nike, Aritzia) and the Starbucks Reserve Roastery.

Millennium Park / Maggie Daley Park (The Bean)

Millennium Park / Maggie Daley Park (The Bean)

Chicago Loop, IL 60602

If you haven’t seen The Bean yet - Millennium Park and Maggie Daley parks (they’re connected) are beautiful to explore! The Art Institute and Buckingham Fountain are close by.

Field Museum & Shedd Aquarium

Field Museum & Shedd Aquarium

1400 South Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL 60605

Museum Campus is a 15-20 minute uber from The Drake. This is a great activity if you have time during the day Friday and love museums!

Navy Pier

Navy Pier

600 East Grand Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611

Tons of shopping and the infamous Ferris wheel at Navy Pier - this tourist spot tends to be very crowded, so it is recommended going earlier in the day to beat the crowds.
