The best skyline views can be found on the Lakefront Trail, which stretches over 15 miles north/south of the city. If you’re staying close to or at The Drake, Oak Street Beach and the trail are a 5 minute walk.
We’re locals and have gone on multiple architecture boat tours - super interesting history and a beautiful way to catch the city / the lake. If you have a few hours to kill on Friday or Saturday morning, this is definitely worth checking out!
Admission to the Zoo is free, but reserving tickets on their website is recommended in case of crowds. Highly recommend exploring the park that connects to the zoo and North Ave Beach as well!
If you’re staying close to downtown, the London House hotel rooftop bar has some of the best views in the city! (You don’t need to be a guest to visit / enjoy some cocktais either.)
The riverwalk (multiple entrances) has several restaurants, bars, and shops. Highly recommend checking out City Winery and an architecture boat tour after!
A local spot and one of our favorites for breakfast! They don’t take reservations and there is sometimes a line, but they move fairly quickly. Recommend getting here early before 10am to avoid a wait!
If you want to shop (and don’t mind crowds), Michigan Avenue has tons of big stores (Zara, Nike, Aritzia) and the Starbucks Reserve Roastery.
If you haven’t seen The Bean yet - Millennium Park and Maggie Daley parks (they’re connected) are beautiful to explore! The Art Institute and Buckingham Fountain are close by.
Museum Campus is a 15-20 minute uber from The Drake. This is a great activity if you have time during the day Friday and love museums!
Tons of shopping and the infamous Ferris wheel at Navy Pier - this tourist spot tends to be very crowded, so it is recommended going earlier in the day to beat the crowds.
