We've spent a lot of time exploring Whitefish and Glacier over the years, so here are a few of our favorite spots. Whether you're staying for a long weekend or turning the trip into a week-long vacation, we hope you love them as much as we do!
Bonsai Brewing Project – Our favorite hangout for great beer and the best atmosphere. Fleur Bake Shop – A must. Order the seasonal sourdough muffin and a coffee. Indah Sushi – "Montana-style" sushi (shot-skis and ghost pepper sushi roulette) Hellroaring Saloon – Drive or take the complimentary city bus to the ski resort for lunch with incredible views. They are open for dinner on certain nights during the summer. Jalisco Cantina – Great margaritas, chips, and salsas. Abruzzo Italian Kitchen - Great Italian and wood-fired pizzas. Reservations recommended. Beldi - Fantastic Mediterranean small plates. Reservations recommended. Great Northern Bar & Remington Bar – The best spots for live music and meeting the locals. Backslope Brewing (Columbia Falls) – The perfect post-Glacier stop for food and beer.
The West Entrance is about 45 minutes from Whitefish. We highly recommend spending a full day exploring Going-to-the-Sun Road. Stop at overlooks, waterfalls, and trailheads along the way, and keep an eye out for mountain goats, bighorn sheep, and bears! Our Favorite Hikes: Avalanche Lake – The Glacier classic Apgar Lookout – Great workout with amazing views Hidden Lake – Stunning alpine views from Logan Pass. Highline Trail – If it's open, do it! One of Glacier's most iconic hikes. Red bus tours and Glacier Shuttles are a great way to explore Glacier without a car! Hiking trails: Reservoir Trail – Our favorite local hike. Danny On Trail – Hike the ski mountain or ride the chairlift one way; look for huckleberries! Lion Mountain – Hike, trail run, or mountain bike.
