Kurtis and Anna met in the fall of 2022, Veteran's Day weekend, when Anna's Creighton B.F.F., Dallas-native Madeleine Aufricht, invited her to Texas for her annual "Friends Weekend", which that year just so happened to consist of five couples, and coincidentally, two single thirtysomethings. The other single individual was Madeleine's "brother from another mother", her older brothers’ (Will and Graham's) childhood bestie, Kurtis. As Kurtis wooed Anna with his electric comedy sketches and homemade breakfast burritos that weekend, Anna impressed Kurtis with her tall stature, recently completed Chicago marathon, and large appetite for his cooking. After spending some time talking on the rocking chairs (pictured below) and staying up practically all night talking (more) until Anna's flight back to Chicago, the rest was history. Kurtis visited Anna at her Wicker Park apartment in Chicago, quickly bonding with her cohabitant Mallie Carroll, tolerating the harsh Chicago winter weather, and ultimately extending his trip by a few days, and then a week. The past two years have been an adventure, including travel to Germany to visit Kurtis’ family, a trip to Japan with friends, followed by Anna moving to Dallas in February 2024. Living in the same city has brought new experiences, challenges, quality time spent with the Mullers/Winslows, and fun visits from the Ballings, all of which fortified their friendship and love. On November 15, 2024, at approximately 4:15pm, Kurtis proposed to Anna, popping the question in the beautiful Parkland Hospital parking lot as he picked her up on their way to the annual “Friends Weekend”, where it all began two years prior. Of course, she said yes! They are excited to continue to grow their love as a married couple. Thank you for joining them on August 2, 2025 to celebrate! They are incredibly grateful for your love and support.
