How we met -Anna

The short answer to the question "how did you meet?" is that we met at Multnomah University, through mutual friends. However, that doesn't quite cut it. I (Anna) had stored my minifridge on campus that spring, and when I got back in the fall, it was not where I had left it. Neither was my beloved bean bag, but that's beside the point. I looked around campus in various other storage places, and found what looked exactly like my fridge, but the door closed funny and there were many different dairy products inside. I just figured someone had stolen it and used it for the summer, so I stole it back and took it up to my apartment. About a week later, the RA came to me and said they found out whose fridge I had and that it wasn't mine and I had to give it back. A few days after that some boy who was a friend of a friend, and who I had thought was attractive, but only from a distance, walked up to me on campus and said "hey, are you the girl that's missing a fridge?". Kolby Glenn's first words to me that I'll remember forever. My response was "yeah, do you know where it is?". He had no idea where it was but turns out the fridge that I had stolen thinking it was mine was actually his, and he wasn't planning on using it and wanted to offer it to me for the year. Super sweet right? Also kinda weird. But anyway, that's how we met! When he came to drop off the fridge, he stayed for at least an hour, and we just talked. I thought it was suspicious how many similarities we seemed to have. We became friends after that, and about a month later over a ping pong game he made a bet that if he beat me I had to go on a date with him. He didn't have to try very hard to win. I will say, while this is how we began, our love story is very intricate and personal and could only have been written by God. Kolby has been a gift to me in ways I could not have even imagined when I first received that fridge from him. I am forever grateful that he found me <3

How We Met- Kolby

Most of the time, when people ask how we met, we share the infamous “Fridge Story” (As Anna shared above). Though I don’t think that gives you the whole story. Before we ever spoke to each other, I remember seeing Anna around campus throughout my freshman year. Whether it was shooting hoops in the gym, running to class because she was late (maybe a few times?), or hearing how her double date went with one of my teammates (luckily they weren’t a good fit). Though I never talked to her, I always knew that she was a very pretty girl who loved Jesus more than anything, and of course, that she does CrossFit. And during the summer before my sophomore year, I remember praying that the girl I would marry would love Jesus more than anything else, just like this girl I know, Anna Patterson. As sophomore year came around, Anna and I lost a mini fridge that we stored on campus. I heard Anna found it through a mutual friend (aka my hype man/best man) and willingly gave it up because she knew it wasn’t hers. I thought to myself, “That is so kind of her, especially since she lost hers too.” So I figured I would let her borrow mine since I was already sharing with a friend (Little did I know, she was the one who stole my fridge in the first place lol). So I told myself that the next time I see her alone, I will ask for her number so I can give her my fridge. That day came sooner than anticipated, and when I saw her walk around the corner, my heart sank. I almost wimped out, but I remember what I told myself and followed through. Looking back now, that was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Little did I know that the answer to my prayer would end up being that same pretty, Jesus-loving, CrossFitter named Anna Patterson :)
