Grandmother of the Bride
Grandmothers are meant to spoil their grandkids and so she does. I always look up to my Grammie for her kindness, generosity, and devotion. I feel lucky and grateful to have seen all of the love she shared with my Grandfather. It's because of them that so much love has multiplied over and over again. Thank you for the many walks down memory lane, bedtime stories, cookies, and the warmest hugs.
Mother & Father of the Bride
Also known as Mom & Dad, Grammy & Grampy, and Great-Grammy & Great-Grampy. These two have been as thick as thieves since they were teens and have grown a farm, friends, & family together. They are the meaning of work hard-play hard. Watching these two has taught me to never give up on what I want, how to think for myself, how to give to others, and the joys of creating something new. Thanks for always being there and for showing me all the good things in life.
Mother of the Groom
Nurse, farmer, Mom, friend, volunteer. “Nanny K” does it all. She’s an award-winning steward of the environment, the family poet, and loves a corny joke. She’s an inspiration to us all and I’m sure she’s happy to finally marry off her youngest.
Maid of Honor
We met by chance during a group meet-up during her visit to Halifax from Ottawa. With her big heart and compulsion for puns, we hit it right off the flying mammal. She has always believed in me and has welcomed me as a squatter into her home many times.
Bridesmaid
We met in carpentry school in 2014. She was at the workbench behind mine and we spent a lot of time bumping butts while sawing away. We have worked together many times, are neighbours, and have traveled across Canada together, plus she joins in on my outrageous goofy behaviors. We have shared a few tears, gathered many splinters, and have been having too much fun ever since.
Bridesmaid
Remember FutureShop? Yeah, well Brandy and I met before FutureShop was a thing of the Past back in 2011. We sold Cell Phones down by the sea shore....in the Annapolis Valley. She isn't afraid to ask tough questions and has been a great role model. I feel lucky to have her as a friend and to have gotten away with some of the trouble that we seemed to find.
Bridesman
A good person and a good friend. We met in Victoria BC. Gregory was a sailor and is now a proud East Coaster. He may be a man of few words but is always generous with his time. He has always been there when I needed a friend or someone to embrace my old-timey country music taste.
Best Man
Road construction engineer extraordinaire, sports trivia genius, backyard rink rat. Gregory and I have been friends since we met in engineering school. He might be running a few minutes late, but Greg will always be there when you need him. “My faith is constant in thee, Clan Donald.”
Groomsman
Defence scientist, runner, board game enthusiast, practical joker. Ian and I have been teaming up or competing against one another in the sports arena since junior high. And just like in the squash court, Ian is a friend that is in it for the long run.
Groomsman
International biosecurity guru, lifelong rugby player, lover of the good life. Whether living in the next room or around the world from each other, neither distance nor time could ever lessen our friendship.
Groomsman
Pharmacist, musician, story teller. He is outnumbered five to one in most family debates. Trev has been my best friend my whole life. I’m so happy he’s found his way home again.
Officiant
Mom, big time banker, reformed party animal, John’s big sister. Shelly is there for the good times and the bad. She’ll make you laugh, she’ll make you cry, and now she’s going to make us married!!
Masters of Ceremony
Andy Telecommunications wizard, goaltender, professional grade DIY skills. “Arch” was my “blind date roommate”. We didn’t know each other before we moved in together while in university, but we’ve been close friends ever since. Colin Civil engineering in the blood, fanatical about sports, road trip champion. “Peters” is the friend that you can always count on to bring the team together. Our grandmothers were fast friends and so are we.
