This is a great place to come to grab local Milwaukee fare from a variety of vendors. Jack's go-to order is a bloody Mary and a Stallis Stack from the West Allis Cheese & Sausage Shoppe. Anna likes to start with some oysters from St. Paul Fish Mart, head over to wine thief for a glass of wine, and finish with a Chicken Shawarma Bowl from Aladdin's.
Just around the corner from the Milwaukee Public Market, the annual Third Ward Art Festival takes place September 3 and 4. Check out local artists, and stop in the many restaurants and boutiques in this charming part of the city.
Start at the iconic Milwaukee Art Museum. Maybe even stop inside even just to see the Grand Hall, designed to "open and close" its wings like a bird. Then wander the many paths hugging Lake Michigan and take in the view.
Saffron, Merriment Social, Onesto, The Wicked Hop, Movida at Hotel Madrid, Tre Rivali, and Black Sheep are Friday night dinner recommendations with great food and outdoor patios. All are a short walk away from our rehearsal dinner location, The Chef's Table. After you finish dining, please join us for a drink after 9pm at The Chef's Table (and maybe even a night cap at O'Lydia's). Check out our FAQ page for additional local restaurant recommendations.
The Milwaukee Art Museum is a pretty big deal. Designed by Santiago Calatrava, the building itself is a work of art, designed to open and close its wings like a bird. Even if you don't spend much time here, it's worth popping in the lobby just to see the building.
Neighborhood dive bar right around the corner from Jack's old apartment. He recommends everything on the menu, especially the Reuben Rolls to start. Anna recommends their "Milwaukee pours" of the house red (but be careful, that bottle has likely been open since the last time Anna was there). Frankly, Jack thinks you should spend the entire weekend here. Anna does not.
