Division Street Farmers' Market
Anna and I can be found here every Saturday morning - whether it's to see what produce is in season or just to people watch and take a walk. There are some excellent bakeries/crafts and other local vendors here.
Lincoln Park Zoo
The Zoo has always been a "Happy Place' for us, as we frequently walked through it after class at our downtown campus. It's free to the public and open 365 days a year.
Lakefront Trail
Now with dedicated lanes for Bikers/Walkers - the Lake Front Path is an incredible way to see the lake as well as a breathtaking view of the skyline. It's accessible from many points along the lake, allowing for quick entry and exit whenever you feel like it.
Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool
Mere steps away from the Zoo is a quiet, peaceful lily pool. This place has always felt incredibly relaxed and has a great walking path around it. If you're seeing the Zoo, a quick stop over here is a must.
Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba!
Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba is a personal favorite of ours - we've spent many Birthdays/Valentines Days/Anniversaries at a table here, trying to find something new on their giant menu. There's something for everyone, whether you are vegetarian or have any specific dietary restrictions.
Toro Sushi
Anna and I stepped into this small sushi bar on a rainy day during our freshman year of college. We never thought one of the few constants during our time together would be the head sushi chef at Toro, Mitch. If you plan on stopping in - make sure to pick up some drinks nearby as it's BYOB. Our favorite rolls are the Kamikaze, Spicy Scallop and anything involving spicy tuna.
Molly's Cupcakes
Molly's won Food Network's "Cupcake Wars" back in 2010 - and hasn't slowed their pace since. This is the original spot that Anna and I would go to while in the area, and every single cupcake there is a winner. I recommend the Ron Bennington, and Anna recommends the Key Lime Pie/Cake Batter cupcakes.
Museum Of Contemporary Art Chicago
Contemporary art is not for everyone - but we frequently find ourselves here during the warm months as they have a phenomenal Tuesdays on the Terrace program - where entry is free, they're open later, and they have a band playing on the back lawn. Don't worry if you find yourself here on any other day - they still have a ton of incredible art as well as a great restaurant, Marisol, in the bottom floor.
Fulton Market District
Some of the cities greatest restaurants are down this strip of Fulton and neighboring Randolph Street - with heavy hitters like The Publican, Girl & The Goat, Formentos, Au Cheval, Lena Brava, Green Street Smoked Meats and more. If headed this way for drinks - The Aviary is a cocktail bar from the team behind Alinea, Chicago's 3 Michelin Starred restaurant.
The Second City
A hotbed of improvisational comedy, the starting point of many notable comedians like Bill Murray, John Belushi, Steve Carell, Tina Fey, Amy Pohler and more.
