We are providing a shuttle service to the welcome party. Meet at Hotel Grand Cavour (Via del Proconsolo, 3, 50122 Firenze FI, Italy) at 6:30pm for pick up. A shuttle back to the hotel will be provided at 10pm at the conclusion of the event.

Passports & Entry - Passport must be valid 6+ months beyond return. No visa needed for stays under 90 days. Flights & Arrival - Florence airport (FLR) is small, but closest to the city. Other options include Pisa, Rome or Milan. You will have to take a train to Florence if you choose to fly into any of these airports. Getting to Florence from FLR Airport- Taxi from FLR: 25–30€ flat rate. Uber is Uber Black only, however, it is very difficult to get an Uber. Consider booking a car in advance or using a taxi. Tram T2 to city center: 20 mins, ~1.70€. Money - Italy uses €. Cards widely accepted; some places prefer cash. Notify your bank; use ATMs (bancomat) for best rates. Phones & Internet - Add an international plan or buy a European eSIM. Weather in September - Warm days (70s–80s°F), cooler nights. Bring light layers and comfy shoes. Electricity - Plugs: Type C/F, 220V. Bring adapters. Getting Around - Florence is extremely walkable. Taxis must be called or found at stands—not hailed. ZTL zones: avoid rental cars or expect tickets. Dining & Etiquette - Italians enjoy dinner between 7:30–10:30 PM. Tips modest—service usually included; 5–10% is generous. Ask for the “conto” (check). Safety - Watch for pickpockets in crowded areas; keep bags zipped. Language - English is common. Helpful words: grazie (thank you), per favore (please), scusi (excuse me). Cultural Notes - Cappuccino is a morning drink. Don't order one after noon or you'll giveaway that you're a tourist. Still water = naturale, sparkling = frizzante. Churches require covered shoulders for entry.
