Immediately preceding the wedding, Ankur will be escorted to the entrance of the wedding venue by his family while parading with loud music and busting out all of their sweet dance moves! Wedding day celebrations commence with Aarti’s family welcoming the groom, his family, and all his friends to the wedding venue. The Milni ceremony is a special greeting of the Baraat, performed between the families. The bride's mother blesses the groom with “Aarti” (coincidentally enough) to free Ankur from obstacles and bad luck. Aarti’s mother then applies a tilak (red mark on forehead) as a sign of welcome and to invite good luck. The Groom then steps onto an earthen pitcher, crushing it into many pieces. This demonstrates that he has the ability, strength and determination to overcome all obstacles that the couple may face. Ankur is then escorted by the Aarti’s parents to the mandap where he will soon meet his bride.
