The Haldi or Pithi ceremony is a pre-wedding ritual that is religiously followed all across the country and is observed before the wedding ceremony. The paste serves as a cleanser for the body and soul and signifies the bride and groom's preparation and welcoming into adult married life. The yellow color of turmeric is considered very auspicious in traditions of India. The auspiciousness of this ingredient and its color ushers (“show or guide someone”) in a life of prosperity for the spouse, who are starting off their new life together. **LUNCH TO FOLLOW**

This musical night is a celebration of the union of not only the couple but the bonding of both families. It is here that both sides bring down their barriers and mingle in a fun environment.
