Getting around Mexicali is easy—Uber works well (same app as the U.S.) for a quick, quiet ride, or you can take a cash-paid taxi. Don’t forget to tip your driver! - Moverse por Mexicali es fácil: Uber funciona bien (la misma aplicación que en Estados Unidos) para un viaje rápido y tranquilo, o puedes tomar un taxi que acepte efectivo. ¡No olvides darle propina a tu conductor!

Crossing the border
Crossing into Mexico: By car: We recommend using the East (New Port) crossing. By foot: We suggest the West (Old Port) crossing. The entrance is by the Sam Ellis Store (new location), where an officer will be stationed. If you need a taxi after crossing, they are available at Hotel Del Norte. For Uber, cross the street to the OXXO to request a ride, as Ubers picking up at Hotel Del Norte may be fined. Returning to the U.S.: By car: We encourage using the East (New Port) crossing. By foot: You may cross at the East (New Port), but arranging transportation afterward can be more challenging. If you need easy access to taxis or Ubers, we recommend crossing on foot at the West (Old Port). SENTRI/Global Entry: If you have SENTRI or Global Entry, you can use these programs to expedite your border crossing. By car: The vehicle must also be registered for SENTRI/Global Entry to use the designated lane. You may carpool with others whose cars are registered. By foot: A designated SENTRI/Global Entry lane is also available. * Please note, crossing the border to and from Mexico by car can be a long line (~1-2 hours) unless you have SENTRI/Global Entry.
