We met in early 2016 while both attending Florida State University (Go Noles) and playing on the club softball team. We immediately connected… a.k.a Nicki was terrified of Angie and Angie talked Nicki’s ear off. Over the next two years, our friendship grew and by the time we graduated FSU, Nicki had finally convinced Angie to date her. Officially dating, we spent the next few years doing long distance, both knowing that it was worth the time away to one day be together. After years of traveling back and forth from NY to FL, we both found ourselves in graduate school at UNC-Chapel Hill. Finally living together only reaffirmed what we already knew… we wanted to spend all the days of our lives together. In 2023, we celebrated our 5 year anniversary. We spent the day together, drinking mimosas at brunch, exploring shops, eating mini donuts in the park, and walking through a beautiful botanical garden. We got to a lookout point over the water and this is where Nicki finally got the chance to ask Angie to marry her. After a couple moments of shock, elation, and focused breathing, Angie said YES! We finished off the night in similar fashion to how we always would at Florida State; dinner at Ale House, sharing a Zinger Mountain Melt and a pitcher of Blue Moon… only with more company, as both our families came together to celebrate us. We could not be more excited to get married and to celebrate our love with the people who have always supported us. As members of the LGBTQ+ community, it can be scary at times to express our love outwardly, and we appreciate the love and support we get from the people who have always been there. We’re looking forward to a night we’ll never forget!
