Q+A

The Wedding Website of Angela Jones Sanchez and John Jones
Question

When should I RSVP?

Answer

As soon as possible and no later than May 1st. If you are still unsure whether or not you are going to be able to make it, we would appreciate it if you would let us know so we can follow up with you later.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Formal Men: Suit | Women: Floor-length Dress

Question

How easy is it to get to Golden from Denver?

Answer

The wedding venue is about a 30 minute drive from downtown Denver. It is located right off of I-70, which is the main east/west highway that runs through Colorado and up into the mountains.

Question

Is the wedding going to be inside or outside?

Answer

The event will take place inside, but there is an outdoor deck attached to the event space that will be accessible all day and night.

Question

What’s the hotel/accomodation situation?

Answer

We have reserved a block of rooms at the TownePlace Suites by Marriott Denver West/Federal Center (what a mouthful), which is located about 15 minutes from the wedding venue. There may still be some rooms available at a discounted rate, but once those are gone, you are on your own. You can see if the hotel still has rooms available or you can book another hotel, an AirBNB, VRBO or any other app/websites of your choosing. If you really want to get into the Colorado spirit, you can pitch a tent.

Question

Will there be any type of pre wedding activity?

Answer

Technically yes, although the term “activity” is being applied somewhat liberally as both events are essentially just excuses to gather and eat. On Friday, you are invited to join us at Washington Park (although locals call it “Wash Park” and you'll immediately identify yourself as a tourist if you call it by its full name). We rented a pavilion next to a boathouse on Smith Lake (or is it a pond? Ask Johnny’s cousin Mitch) where we will have access to pedal boats, kayaks, stand up paddleboards, water trikes and a variety of wheeled options like bikes and cruisers. We will also have a food truck from Arepas House, one of our favorite Venezuelan restaurants

Question

What about post wedding?

Answer

Yep, more food! Please join us at the Buffalo Rose in “downtown” Golden for a brunch buffet. You can also find the information on the Schedule or when you RSVP.

Question

How should we plan on getting around?

Answer

Getting to Denver/Golden from the airport is easy. The RTD A Line light rail runs directly from the terminal to Union Station which is right in the center of downtown. From there, you can take the W Line to Golden to get to the hotel, but it’s a 25 minute walk to the hotel from the closest light rail stop so you may just want to use a rideshare app like Uber or Lyft. If you plan to use a rideshare directly from the airport to the hotel, plan to spend at least $50-60. You can also rent a car if you’d prefer the flexibility. While there is no public transit that can take you directly to the wedding venue, we will have a bus that will take people to the venue from the hotel and back again at night. If you choose to rent a car for your stay, there is plenty of parking at the hotel and wedding venue. It can be a little tricky to find parking at Wash Park, but there is a lot right next to the boathouse so it's not impossible. The Buffalo Rose has a garage right next to it that is free on Sunday.

Question

What type of a culinary experience are we in for?

Answer

The Canyon Club was nice enough to host a food tasting and we were delighted at the quality of their edible options. There will be a cocktail hour with appetizers and dinner will be buffet style. Dessert TBD.

Question

Will there be alcohol at your wedding?

Answer

Yes! While we both have decided to slow down or stop entirely, that doesn’t mean we are going to be imposing our lifestyle choices on you. We don’t want to stop those of you who choose to imbibe from having a good time - it is a wedding celebration after all.

Question

What’s the weather usually like at that time of year?

Answer

Colorado is a high mountain desert so it's typically hot and dry during the summer. Due to the altitude, the sun is extremely powerful so those of you from Seattle should bring the highest grade SPF available if you plan on participating in any outdoor activities beyond what we have planned (pre wedding dinner at the park and day after brunch will both be outdoors).

Question

I see that your registry does not include any type of material items. What's up with that?

Answer

Everyone knows that weddings are expensive to fund, but they can also be expensive to attend. Especially if you are in a tight financial situation, do not feel obligated to get us anything. The greatest gift you can give us is your presence. If you are able to contribute something, the second greatest gift is assistance in securing our financial future. We are hoping to buy a house next year once our lease is up in February, and we welcome assistance on the front. However, you can also designate funds to go toward our honeymoon or just helping us out with our everyday expenses. And if none of that floats your boat but you still want to get us something, then feel free to bring or send us any other gift that you think we might appreciate.

Question

If you were to recommend one thing to do beyond the planned activities, what would it be?

Answer

Red Rocks Amphitheatre is the crown jewel of Colorado. Jason Mraz and Colorado Symphony are playing the day after the wedding and some of you already have your tickets. We will be too burned out to join, but if you have the time, we highly recommend you check it out! Up until a few hours before the show, you can go inside the amphitheater and there’s even a museum inside that’s pretty cool. There is also a short hiking loop that takes maybe 20-30 minutes and a cool gift shop at the Trading Post.

Question

Any other suggestions beyond that?

Answer

Denver and the surrounding area has plenty of great parks and places to check out. In addition to Red Rocks, one of our favorites is Confluence Park in downtown. You can walk there from Union Station which is another great place to check out. There’s also many wonderful breweries such as Denver Beer Company (also along that same route) and New Terrain Brewing in Golden.

Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

Absolutely, but they must be RSVPd so we can make sure to have an accurate guest count. Plenty of our friends and family have young ones and we want to make it a fun and welcoming environment for your offspring (but if you want to tell them otherwise, that’s between you and the Almighty).
