We went to Antigua to celebrate Allan’s 50th birthday, looking forward to slowing down, taking in the ambiance, and just being present together somewhere completely new. What I didn’t know was that Allan had been quietly planning a moment I would remember forever. On our final day, Allan suggested a walk on the beach. Nothing unusual there. Wherever we travel, we always dip our feet in the ocean and thank the universe for letting us explore somewhere new. It’s our little ritual, simple and grounding, and one of my favorite things we do together. We walked farther than we normally would, all the way to the very tip of the beach, where the world feels softer and quieter. That’s when Allan stopped, turned to me, and got down on one knee. With our feet in the sand and the waves rolling in, he asked me to spend forever with him. I didn’t hesitate for a second. Of course I said yes! So we went to Antigua for a birthday, followed our ritual of gratitude, and came home engaged! Sometimes the universe really does outdo itself.
