Phenomenal Italian. Chingiale gnocchi or spaghetti alla vongole. Everyone speaks Italian. It's like being in Italy. $$$

She does it right. (it = fried chicken). Auntie April is a real person and she's probably greeting you, taking your order, and running the fryer. $

Walk along Valencia from 14th to 30th Street to experience the gentrified mission (cute shops, good food). Pop down to Mission Street to experience something a bit more real. Walk up an down 24th street from Valencia to Potrero for a beautiful blend of the old Mexican neighborhood with the new city (best food).
A bustling neighborhood right outside of Golden Gate Park. Tons of amazing food and independent shops. 9th Avenue and Irving is the main intersection to start at.
A true SF neighborhood. Walk from Ocean beach along Judah and check out some thriving independent shops. Prepare for sass at Trouble Coffee, discovery and delight at Blackbird Books, and overpriced brunch at Outerlands. <-- an excellent example of San Franciscans who love to wait in lines.
Walk! Don't swim. Grab a hot beverage or a six pack, a sweatshirt and enjoy the sunset... or sunrise. If you are into surfing, get here at dawn to watch.
Angelica's childhood neighborhood. 24th Street corridor is full of independent shops and mediocre food (exceptions, accepted). Church Street at 24th through 30th also has some cute stuff going on. Pick any street in any direction to get a feel for this family-centered neighborhood.
The historic neighborhood for gay rights and terrible food. Night life here can be memorable. Walk from Market & Castro towards 18th (the rainbow intersection). Cliff's Variety is an awesome old gizmo shop. Hot Cookie's cookies are actually good. Pop onto a side street like Hartford or towards "Liberty Hill" for great views.
Multiple miles of park smack dab in the middle of San Francisco. Pick up any random walking path that calls to you and discover treasures' unknown. Every time we're here, we find a new section. Highlights include the Conversatory of Flowers, the Rose Gardens, the Botanical Gardens, The Japanese Tea Garden, and Stow Lake. Check out the De Young Museum and the California Academy of Sciences there too.
A great in-city hike/stroll, out and back. Great eastbound views of the bridge. You can also check out the Palace of Fine Arts or say hi to Angelica's Dad at the VA.
Restored marshlands with a wonderful flat walking path. Walk westbound and the Golden Gate Bridge is right in front of you. Check out the Water Organ, and, if it's warm, dip your toes in the water.
Sutro is the tall red radio tower you can see from almost everywhere in the city. Text us if you want an in-city hike that summits Sutro. The journey and destination are wonderful on clear and foggy days.
You may have noticed a trend where we like to hike up tall hills in San Francisco and basque in our city's beauty. This is also one of them. Not up for a hike? You can drive up too for great day and night views.
This is where we got engaged and where we go hiking almost every weekend! Hike anything on the Matt Davison Trail, and you will be happy (start at the Pan Toll Campground). After, drive up to East Peak for jaw-dropping views.
If you have a day to check out Oakland and Berkeley, this beautiful state park is a hidden gem. You can walk along the creek or try this ~7 mile hike: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/french-bridle-and-stream-trail-loop Cellphone reception is bad.
Where Angelica likes to hike before work. Rewarding views on the Summit Loop Trail (elevation with views above the fog line) and the Saddle Loop Trail (flat-ish).
Stroll along a retired section of Highway 1 with great views of the Pacific Ocean. 3.1 miles, out and back.
A discovered beach town on the coast of Marin County. If you have time to rent a house up here for a few days, it's pretty magical and rejuvinating. The ocean is warmer and calmer here. The fog burns off in the afternoon. You can also grab a burger at the Parkside Cafe and then hike Mt Tam at the Matt Davison trailhead. You go up up up and then down down down.
A quaint, lovely town on Route 1 towards wine country. Buffalo-milk froyo in the grocery store (meat counter in the back), splurge worthy cheese at cow girl creamy, and don't forget to check out Marlie's yarn store, Black Mountain Weavers!
