USD is widely accepted in Nicaragua (I personally use USD and credit/ATM only and don’t exchange). If you buy something with USD typically you’ll receive Cordobas back. Many places won’t break larger bills and won’t accept bills with tears (even the smallest) so something to note. Credit cards are rarely accepted but in Iguana you can use your card at the (2) small markets and (2) restaurants in the community. ATM’s do have USD and Cordoba options, although the ATM in Iguana does run out of cash at times. There are a couple more ATM’s nearby though and a bank as well outside the first gate in a commercial shopping area.
