Hiking trails are abundant throughout town and the San Juan Mountains. There is really something for everyone as trails range from low impact, shorter trails starting in town and leading to waterfalls and overlooks; to more difficult hiking in the mountains; all the way to 14ers if your feeling ambitious!
We checked this out in June and absolutely loved it! It's not super strenuous, just a little intimidating, only takes a few hours, and you can rent gear for $35!! If you're interested please let us know as we plan to take some family members and could plan a bigger trip. Most likely Friday morning but TBD.
While only a few blocks, Main Street is classic Western Colorado at its' finest! Restaurants, bars, breweries, shops, an Alchemist Museum, and delicious Scrap Cookies at Mouse's Chocolates!!
There are a few options for hot springs, the largest and most playful is the Ouray Hot Springs Pool as you come into town. There are smaller more intimate hot springs in town, including one clothing optional ;) - check the link above for a list. Some are reservation only or only available to hotel guests at certain times so check before you go.
Numerous companies right in town are available for off road excursions, take an adventure into the mountains!
If you'd like to get some bike turns in, we highly recommend the RAT trail system just across the highway from the State Park. 25+ miles of trails of singletrack in a compact area allowing for cruising up and down numerous trails over a couple hours. Really well built climbs and rolling downhills!
