Andrew and Val met at Union Jack in Broad Ripple, Indiana, an Indianapolis neighborhood in June 2018. The pair was introduced by mutual friends who certainly didn't intend for them to fall in love, and it wasn't love at first sight. Actually, Andrew approached Val that first night at a house party. He'd heard Val was vegan and wanted to find some common ground with a new friend. Andrew even stored her number as "Vegan Val Tyler's Friend" in his phone. Both Andrew and Val were seeing other people at the time, but as time went on, it would be evident that they were meant to be together. Val fell first. On July 3, 2018, she had a small dinner gathering at her apartment. That was the night the two bonded over shared taste in music, and Val knew she was in trouble. Andrew wasn't sure he was ready to commit to a serious relationship, but it became clear to him too that this girl was different. That summer, the pair grew closer over live music, helicopter dates and great food and drinks. The rest is history. Within that first year, the two moved in together in an apartment walking distance from Broad Ripple Avenue where they shared many nights together and with friends enjoying the neighborhood's dining and music culture. Andrew and Val purchased a home together in June 2020 less than two miles from their beloved neighborhood and continue to bike and explore the area together.
