How We Met

July 2012

As many of you know, Andrew and Parisah met in law school. However, some of you may not know that Andrew was actually the very first person Parisah met in law school. Parisah introduced herself to Andrew in front of a tub of hot dogs at a welcome BBQ hosted by the school. Andrew recalls being stopped in his tracks by a woman with the most beautiful eyes he had ever seen. Parisah recalls the boy who couldn't pronounce her name correctly. Andrew and Parisah had every single class together their first year of law school and became friends. Parisah loved chit-chatting with Andrew, and Andrew thought Parisah was "pleasantly disruptive." They studied together and gained a mutual respect, love, and trust for each other...as friends. They shared a love for scary movies and Halloween mazes and amusement parks. Throughout their friendship Andrew was always there for Parisah. He helped Parisah move at least 5 times, never missed her calls or texts, and would always show up to whatever she invited him to (and only when she personally invited him). It was a secret to no one (except Parisah) that Andrew had developed a crush. Their friendship lasted for years. Finally at the end of 2019, Andrew confessed his feelings to Parisah. In January 2020, Parisah and Andrew started dating and the bond they had formed as friends grew so much stronger. Although 2020 was a rough year for everyone, Parisah and Andrew enjoyed the time they got to spend together in quarantine. Andrew indulged Parisah as she went through a TikTok dance phase. Parisah indulged Andrew as he went through a classic films binge watching phase. Parisah got to know Andrew's family, and Andrew got to know Parisah's family. Each of them saw a side to the other that they had never seen before. Feelings grew and grew and grew.

How He Proposed

July 2021

On Friday, July 23, 2021 - 9 years from the day they met and 1.5 years after they started dating - Andrew planned a beautiful picnic at Laguna Beach where he decided to pop the question. After a long day at work, Parisah got home and got ready for their upcoming dinner reservation (or so she thought). The two of them drove towards the beach, and Andrew surprised Parisah when he pulled into the Aliso Beach parking lot. They got out of the car and walked towards the ocean. There on the beach was a beautiful picnic set up with the words "Marry Me" lit up in the sand. Parisah was giddy and immediately said yes! The two of them enjoyed all their picnic snacks and watched the sun set over the ocean, while listening to the heavenly beats of Orange County's largest amateur drum circle. On the walk back to the car, after the picnic that changed her life, Parisah and Andrew discovered a City of Laguna Beach parking citation on their windshield due to the fact that they had forgotten to display their parking permit on the dash. The next day, Parisah appealed the parking citation, and the City was so overwhelmed by their love story, that they waived the $45 parking citation. Love conquers all!
