The day was December 11th, 2014. The place was L2 Lounge in Georgetown, Washington, DC. The occasion was the EastBank Christmas party. Drew was in town from Chicago for the event and Mari was living in Falls Church, Virginia. Mari was working at the event and checked this brown coat as Drew arrived. Throughout the evening, there was mutual admiration and some flirting. Eventually, and with the aid of a few cocktails to boost courage, Drew asked for Mari's phone number. No need to mention Drew chasing Mari around the bar singing Santana's "Book of Love" that night. After flying back to Chicago the next day, Drew returned to DC just 3 days later to take Mari out to Founding Farmers for their first date. O dia era 11 de Dezembro de 2014. Chicago is a very special place for Drew and Mari. Since they are both bad a taking pictures, they had long discussed doing a photo shoot together with the breathtaking Chicago skyline in the background. Drew had moved to Denver while Mari was finishing her engineering degree in Chicago and under the guise of this photo shoot, Drew arranged the proposal.
