House Or Rental
We will be having the wedding at Andrew's parents residence on Bainbridge Island, which is about 10-15 minutes from the Bainbridge ferry terminal.
Travel Note
Bainbridge is an island, but there is a bridge to the Kitsap Peninsula at the north end. You can drive from Tacoma over the Narrows Bridge on Highway 16 and follow Highway 3 at Bremerton to Poulsbo, where Highway 305 leads to Bainbridge Island. Or if you're driving the Olympic Peninsula loop clockwise, continue south-east on Highway 104, cross the Hood Canal Bridge and take Highway 3 to Poulsbo, and Highway 305 to Bainbridge.
Travel Note
Madison and Andrew are having the wedding at Andrew's parents residence on Bainbridge Island - 35 minute ferry ride from Seattl. Taking the Washington State Ferry from Downtown Seattle to Bainbridge Island is a fun, and very unique experience that we are very excited to have as a transition in and out of our wedding weekend. Especially for newcomers, however, the ferries can be confusing. With so many of you coming in from out of town we want to give you as much info as we can to make it an easy, fun experience and not a headache! The ferry you want be on is the Seattle --> Bainbridge Island, departing from the Seattle Ferry Terminal. NOT "Bremerton" which departs from the same place. That would be a huge mistake to make. The ceremony STARTS PROMPTLY AT 6:00 PM, so make sure to catch either the 3:45 PM, or 4:40 PM ferries from the Seattle Ferry terminal.
Travel Note
The main consideration here is that at peak times the car space on each enormous ferry fills up quickly. The best rule of thumb is to get to the dock and get your car in line for the ferry BEFORE the one that you really need to be on. If you end up being able to get on the earlier one you'll just have a bit more time on the other side. If, as is more likely during peak times, the early one fills up you have a much better chance of getting on the next one (which was your first choice anyway.
Travel Note
You will buy tickets at the Ferry terminal on the Seattle side for both walk on and driver + passengers. We encourage everyone to car pool as much as you can!
Travel Note
This is very easy, as the ferries almost never hit walk-on capacity. Just get there about 20 minutes before the ferry departs, buy your ticket, and walk on! REMINDER: If you are walking on the ferry and need a shuttle from the Bainbridge ferry dock to the Joslyn residence let us know so we can arrange your ride! If you want a bit more flexibility, there is a cab company on the island - Viking Cab - but we did not want everyone to have to rely on that to get to the venue. Uber and Lyft do not have good coverage on the island.
