Surrounding Airports

DCA - Reagan National This is the closest to DC and you can easily get into the District by Metro. It sometimes has less airline or time options, however. IAD - Dulles International Second closest, offers the most airlines and flight times. There is a metro line that goes into the District from the airport. BWI - Baltimore/Washington International This airport is the furthest. It is becoming predominantly Southwest so sometimes those flights are cheaper than out of DCA, but it is harder to get to. You can get into the city by taking the MARC commuter train or by Uber/Rental.

Train

WMATA (The Metro)

This is DC's public transportation, it is easy to use and safe overall. It is a great option to get into the city from DCA or IAD airports or just around the city. You can get a metro card at any of the stops and add funds or get a day/multiple day pass. Google and Apple Maps have the metro map loaded if you chose the "Transit" map layer.
