Flight
✈️ John Wayne Airport (SNA) The closest and easiest airport to San Clemente, but keep in mind it does have a layover. ✈️ San Diego International Airport (SAN) Approximately 1–1.25 hours from San Clemente and another great option. ✈️ Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Offers the most flight options and is approximately 1–1.5 hours from San Clemente, depending on traffic.
Rental Car
We recommend renting a car if you plan to explore California or visit nearby towns. San Clemente also offers a local trolley system, which is a fun and convenient way to get around town and along the coast, especially if you’re staying nearby. Uber and Lyft are readily available throughout California and are a great alternative if you do not have a rental car. Please note that rideshare transportation from LAX or SAN to San Clemente can be costly, with round-trip fares averaging around $250, depending on time and demand.
