We love Downtown Frederick! Downtown Frederick has a wide range of restaurants including Irish, Cuban, Thai, Mexican,Indian as well as fine dining options. There is even a Pop Shop, a specialty soda shop, which has over 500 kinds of craft sodas from around the world. There are also book shops, tea shops, antique shops and even a little quilt shop (which was much enjoyed by the Shirleen Wills when she visited)! Our favorite winery!!!! Sit back and sip! Pop in for a tasting and a cheese plate and enjoy some live music (on the weekends)! Also stop by their brewery Red Shedman and have a nice brew! We recommend tasting: Skipjack Terrapin White Raven Retriever Red Steeplechase Mountainberry Mango Sangria Cosmic Punch IPA
Gettysburg is about a 45 minute drive from Frederick. The Gettysburg National Military Park, Museum, and Battlefields is a must see! You can take a driving tour or a bus tour of the park and battlefields. There are also shopping outlets nearby for you shoppers.
Our nation's capital is about an hour from Frederick (considering traffic it might be a little longer). It's a great place to learn about our country's history through museums and experiences. The Kennedy Center, The Ford Theatre, and The Folger Shakespeare Theatre have excellent musicals and plays! All of you baseball fans can enjoy catching a Nationals game (they will be playing at home against the Marlins that weekend).
Baltimore has some interesting sights as well. We recommend the Inner Harbor which boasts the National Aquarium of Baltimore (we recommend the puffin exhibit). You can also enjoy The Science Center and Port Discovery (great for kids). Fort McHenry is also a great historical experience! The Baltimore Orioles will also be playing the Toronto Blue Jays a few days before our wedding at Camden Yards, which happens to be right next door to M&T Bank Stadium (home of the Baltimore Ravens)!
Come visit the capital of Maryland. We recommend checking out the Naval Academy and Downtown Annapolis, where there are wonderful shops, historical experiences, bars and restaurants. You can also have a delicious cup of Rise Up Coffee (a locally made and brewed coffee from the Eastern Shore of Maryland nearby where Lauren went to college; she recommends the hot mocha or the White Mocha Coffee smoothie and Andrew recommends the Arnold Palmer).
