Well not that far away, more like a few miles outside Boston, Massachusetts. One night, a bright eyed and (very) curly haired chap from Birmingham, England stumbled into “The Gaff”, a dive bar known for 99c inhumanely hot wings and a very ordinary open mic night. With dreams of musical stardom still whirling through his veins, the plan was to get up and wow the locals, just like many “gaffs” that had gone before. Little did he know, but this “gaff” would be a little different. Upon entering the bar, music from a singer songwriter filled the room, his eyes darted straight to the stage. On stage, providing back up vocals, was what can only be described as an upstate New York vision of beauty. “She’s a bit of alright, I hope she stays”, he thought as their eyes briefly met, just for a moment. For the vision of beauty, she was only at the bar that night because her friend was borrowing her keyboard and she’d offered to sing backing vocals for the set. Little did she know that she’d also be lending her keyboard to the curly haired stranger who had just walked in. However she had joked previously with her friends that she wanted to find a curly haired musician... it’s as if it was written in the stars! Whilst she packed away her keyboard and headed for the door, the curly haired musician cheekily said “I hope you’re not leaving, I’d like to buy you a drink”. Fast forward numerous G&Ts, a whirlwind romance, a fake bar name, a chronically nervous street dog, a cute bungalow and a wake, that curly haired musician and the vision of beauty from upstate New York are inviting you to their wedding to witness the next part of their story...just the odd 10 years later.
