Joy and Andrew actually met for the first time at a church advance in Spokane, Washington in January 2010. At the time Joy was 20 and a sophomore in college and Andrew was 25 and already a fully fledged adult (debatable by some. Even to this day) with a job and apartment and everything. Joy didn't think much about Andrew because he was already out in the world (although his dashing good looks caught her eye) and Andrew remembers thinking Joy was cute and had a fantastic smile. Andrew proposed nearly ten years later to the day!

In October 2018 Joy visited Dayna Northart in San Diego, her new home. Over lattes at a hipster coffee shop with an excessive amount of indoor plants and macrame, Joy and Dayna were chatting about the single life and perils of online dating when Dayna mentioned she had a friend/nemesis that Joy might find attractive (spoiler: she does). Dayna reached out to Andrew to see if he would be interested in getting to know Joy. They exchanged contact information. Joy and Andrew texted nonstop for several days, then had their first of many Skype dates. Two and a half months later he came to visit Joy in Mountain View, California, where she was living at the time. Joy listed her home for sale in February 2019 and moved to Denver to live close to Andrew in March 2019.
