The Proposal

When Andrew decided it was time to propose, he knew two things: it had to be thoughtful, and it had to be sneaky, because Erin is not easy to surprise. After workshopping ideas, he landed on Longwood Gardens. The challenge was getting her there without suspicion. Enter Shannon, Erin’s sister, who texted that her guest passes were expiring and offered them for that weekend. When Erin asked Andrew if he wanted to go, he played dumb, pretending he didn’t even know what Longwood was. The Saturday of the proposal turned out to be a beautiful day for March. They started the day off by walking to Erin’s favorite coffee shop and snuggling with Fin on the couch before getting ready to head out. Erin had been suspicious for weeks that a proposal might be coming, but Andrew’s calm, laid-back attitude threw her off. So much so that she even texted her matron of honor, Carolyn, right before they left saying, “It definitely isn’t happening today.” At Longwood, they wandered through the Magnolia Tree Garden until Erin suggested turning around to go to a different section, unaware that a photographer was waiting ahead. Andrew started to panic. He (gently) insisted they keep walking. Erin pushed back, and then for the first time in her life, she gave in and didn’t get her way. (Something Andrew will remind her of for the rest of their lives). Andrew spotted a small temple and suggested they take a picture there. Once inside, he dropped to one knee and asked Erin to marry him! Afterward, they explored the gardens taking photos and FaceTimed their families and friends to share the news, and ended the night with a celebratory dinner at Parc. Erin and Andrew can’t wait to continue the celebrations in 2026 with all the people they love the most!
