There paths crossed at just the right time. Once upon a time AJ worked on an HGTV show called Flip or Flop. He became good friends with Tarek El Moussa who was the host of the show. Tarek had a yacht in Newport Beach where AJ would frequent on weekends with friends. That Labor Day Weekend in 19’ would change his life forever. AJ being the most outdoorsy on the boat was made in charge of tying off the buoy’s. As he was hanging over the front of the boat attempting to tie off a buoy, Bree chimed, “So are you the buoy bitch?” AJ turned with haste to notice a stunning girl grinning ear to ear. She then proceeded to make jokes about his American flag denim shirt. Once they found out their birthday’s were a day a part, the rest was history. That moment in time there paths crossed and the rest is history. Thanks to Bree who used a pick up line first to spark the flame.
As some of you may know, I was born on October 5th, 1990 and Bree was born 1 day before on October 4th, 1990. What some of you may not know, is that Bree celebrates her birthday just as much as me. It’s like the equivalent of the Super Bowl and Christmas put together! The day has been coming for awhile and I wanted to make sure it was perfect, so I did what any man would do, hired a random videographer from the middle of Maine and began to plan the most romantic proposal ever. It was the fall of 2021. The trip started in good ol Lebanon PA where we rented a car and drove North for a New England Road Trip. We traveled through the trees in NY, experienced ghost tours in Salem MA, stayed in a remote cabin and kayaked in Londonderry VT, road horses in Stowe VT and then finally headed Northeast to Bar Harbor Maine. It was a long drive to get to Bar Harbor but the foliage in northern New Hampshire made it worth our while. After settling in to our cabin we got ready and were running slightly behind. I played it cool and hurried Bree along so she wouldnt suspect anything. As we headed to dinner I mentioned an overlook to catch sunset, Bree agreed with a brow. We arrived in the parking lot with my backpack filled with champagne and glasses as we hurried up the 1 mile path. To my defense I thought it was going to be much shorter and less steep. Yes, Bree had on heeled boots! Bless her patience with me. Of course half way up we were greeted with a Y in the path. I had to make a quick decision and called the videographer who was hiding in the bushes to ask which way to go. I played it off like it was my buddy Pete who had given us hiking trail recommendations. When we finally reached the top of Bubble Rock Overlook we walked to the edge to witness the sunset just slip away into the water. I wrapped my arms around her and took a step back to kneel on one knee. It was at this moment when I realized that I was not only the happiest man on earth, but also staring at the most stunning future wife there is! After a long proposal speech I slipped that big rock on her fingers and kissed her. Continuing the surprises Bree was startled when the videographer finally popped out of the bushes. Before tracking down the mountain in the dark we popped champagne around the candles shaped like a large heart. We finished the evening with Maine style lobster rolls and calling our loved ones with the great news! The rest of the trip was spent along the coast of Maine eating lobster and drinking wine and basking in the moment of the most memorable trip of our lives to date!
