Agnieszka and Andrew first crossed paths online during the quiet days of the COVID lockdown. They shared nearly identical birthdays, both had golden retrievers who lived parallel lifespans, and each had spent college competing as an athlete. From that point on, they talked every night until they fell asleep on the phone. Andrew quietly decided she was the one, while Agnieszka wondered how a single person could talk so much. Hoping to win her over, Andrew drove from Wisconsin to Illinois for their first date, choosing Portillo’s because the world was still half-shuttered.
