If you are considering visiting the city of Rio de Janeiro, which we strongly recommend, we suggest you stay in the Southern Area of the City. South of Rio is famous for its stunning beaches, amazing restaurants, and classic bars. Hotels or Airbnbs in Ipanema, Leblon or Copacabana are highly recommended. Please see below a list of options, but feel free to reach out if you have questions.

Travel Note

Health Precautions

Brazil doesn't require vaccinations to enter the country, and the city of Rio de Janeiro and Búzios are urban settings. Although the risk of infectious diseases is low in well-developed areas of Brazil such as Rio, some precautions are important: Dengue Fever: In 2023, the state of Rio de Janeiro experienced a high rate of Dengue Fever, which is transmitted by mosquito bites. General precautions include using approved repellents and staying in well-screened or air-conditioned rooms. Of note, European travelers have a Dengue vaccine available (Qdenga). Please consult your primary doctor if you are considering this vaccine. Yellow Fever: Since 2017, the CDC has been conditionally recommending Yellow Fever vaccination for travelers to Rio de Janeiro. There has been no documented case of the infection in urban settings in Rio de Janeiro in the past years. We're constantly checking the Epidemiological Reports in Brazil and will let you know if anything changes before the wedding, but I (Murilo) wouldn't recommend Yellow Fever vaccination if you are coming and staying in Rio and Búzios only. Please reach out if you have questions or want to chat more about this. Of course, I recommend you discuss this with your primary doctor ahead of your travel. Other vaccines to consider: - Hepatitis A (if you haven't received it before) - COVID-19 Booster (as indicated) Important! Do get travel medical insurance.
