On Elkhorn Ave between Bond Park & Tregent Park is downtown Estes Park. There are a lot of tourist shops and candy stores. The river follows right behind the shops. It’s a must go.

They offer ghost tours, whiskey tasting etc. The Stanley Hotel is a 140-room Colonial Revival hotel built by Freelan Oscar Stanley, co-founder of the Stanley Motor Carriage Company, and opened on July 4, 1909, as a resort for upper-class Easterners and a health retreat for sufferers of pulmonary tuberculosis. The Stanley Hotel served as the inspiration for the Overlook Hotel in Stephen King's 1977 novel The Shining and its 1980 film adaptation.
Daily pass: $30/vehicle (or an active national park pass) No reserved entry-time is required until May. Activities can include: Scenic driving, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, wildlife watching or picnicking. (Can rent gear in town if snowshoe/cross-country) Go to the visitors center for more information.
