Fair Oaks and Green ~ The Rest is History

It all started with a swipe

2021 We met in the cold of December 2021. Andrea had just graduated from college and had been talking casually with Todd through Hinge. They decided to take a nice stroll through Old Town Pasadena and get some hot tea while we chatted and got to know each other. They ran into each other on the corner of Fair Oaks and Green Street. Todd did not have a beanie on, despite the cold weather and wind. We both had masks on (COVID was still a thing). We had great conversations, and at the end of the night, we scheduled our next meeting. Todd got sick right after our date (probably from not wearing a beanie when it was so cold out), and we ended up not seeing each other again until 2022. When Andrea asked why he didn’t have his beanie on, Todd said, “I didn’t want you to think I was bald.” Andrea said, “Fair enough.” 2022 Andrea and Todd grew much closer in 2022. They began introducing each other to their friends in February and spent that time learning more about one another. Todd was watching more tennis than he ever had before, and Andrea started learning how to snowboard. A lot was happening in Andrea’s life—she was looking for a job right after college, which she did land in January. Todd was very supportive and showed a genuine interest in learning about the pre-production stage of animation. They took their first trip together to Indian Wells to watch—guess what—tennis, and later went to Mammoth so Andrea could snowboard. Todd was a very great and patient teacher and he was there to guide Andrea's first ever slope! In May, Todd’s parents invited Andrea to their home for the first time, and it went really well. Andrea was nervous, but Todd’s parents were very welcoming. Later that year, Todd also met Andrea’s parents when they came to visit for Christmas. 2023 In 2023, Andrea and Todd took their first international trip together. One of Andrea’s friends, who lived in Perth, was getting married, and they decided to turn it into an Australia–Singapore–Indonesia adventure. Nothing strengthens a relationship more than being in a confined space for 18+ hours together—LOL, just kidding. They had a blast! Todd met some of Andrea’s high school friends, and everyone had a great time. They also had a 16-hour layover in Singapore, where they explored the busy streets of Orchard Road, visited Marina Bay Sands, and of course enjoyed a meal at a hawker center. Todd loved Singapore (aside from the humidity) and said he would love to visit again. Todd stayed at Andrea’s parents’ home and got to meet Snow the Husky. Unfortunately, Snow wasn’t having a great digestion day, and Todd had to witness Snow puking and having diarrhea. Other than that, the trip was a blast (aside from the humidity) 😄 At this point in their relationship, Andrea was working at an event company that catered mostly to weddings and other events. Naturally, conversations about weddings came up often. This year marked the first time they ever touched on the subject of marriage. 2024 A lot of adjustments had to be made in 2024. Todd and Andrea both started new jobs, and Todd had to commute to San Diego once a week. Andrea spent a lot of time at Todd’s house babysitting their beautiful dog, Baby Rye. They continued their tradition of watching tennis at Indian Wells and snowboarding at Big Bear that year. Todd had plans to propose, and they both started looking at rings together. 2025 Unfortunately, Todd lost his house in 2025 due to the Eaton Fire. It was an incredibly challenging time, but they made it through and emerged stronger than ever. Todd and Baby Rye moved into Andrea’s parents’ house in Arcadia in early 2025 and have been living there ever since. Todd proposed to Andrea in front of Pasadena City Hall about two weeks after the fire. They recreated their first date by strolling through Old Town with cups of hot tea from Jin Tea. In front of the fountain, Todd went down on one knee and popped the question—and the rest is history. ✨
