The Jackson County, Indiana Dog Shelter
The Jackson County, Indiana Dog Shelter has been a vision of many, including Andrea (and later Steve), since 2008 when a canine control program was started by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department. The goal is to build a dog shelter that will be managed by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department and will provide opportunities for approved inmates to care for and train the dogs. We see it as a win-win for the inmates and the dogs. The shelter building is constructed next to the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown, IN. To complete the project and programing, a final $75,000 is needed. Two of our dogs are rescues and we would like to give other loving pets a chance to join a caring and loving home.
