Roger and Andrea met online and were both dreading their next (of numerous) impersonal encounters. For Andrea, the dating app felt suspiciously like unpaid overtime- effortful and exhausting. Roger was hoping for a more traditional meeting for his future wife and the "resume exchanges" felt generic and forced. Following the usual script on September 27, 2025, Andrea decided to take a chance and "like" Roger's profile. Their text exchanges on the app were nothing remarkable but, enough to keep some interest. They decided to talk by phone on October 2. That's when EVERYTHING shifted. Their five hour (!) conversation was easy, natural, and genuinely fun— they were able to bypass the standard interview questions and speak personally and deeply from the get-go. A week later, they met. Four weeks later, Andrea picked out her engagement ring and wedding band. Roger bought his ring along with Andrea's (well, he had to- they were running a sale). The momentum continued to build in the following weeks with an engagement by Thanksgiving, a house in Big Rapids by the end of February, a move and new job for Andrea mid-April, and Roger's impending sale of his house. Both Andrea & Roger appreciate your prayers as they navigate these huge changes and awesome escapades. Here's a little about the couple: They are both are born-again Christians who look forward to serving God together through their relationship to each other, the church, and community. Neither have been married nor have children (apart for the 4-legged variety). Andrea is an orthopedic physical therapist who enjoys her family and the outdoors. She is already lining up where to drop in her kayak this summer. If possible, she'll keep borrowing her brother's dog, Tinkerbell, and going on grand adventures on the water, hiking, and biking. Hopefully, Ted won't miss her too, too much. Roger is the mayor of Reed City! He teaches cyber security at the career-centered high school in Big Rapids and at Ferris State. Roger trains therapy dogs and has one of his own- Xena, a 4-year-old Pittie who loves her person, Roger, and chasing down tossed balls. Xena lives with Roger in Reed City. A recent addition is Libby, a black lab-mix therapy dog, living with Andrea. Libby loves life to the fullest and has never met a stranger. She loves to love on people and ask for their love in return. A lifelong Eagle Scout, Roger is an accomplished target sport enthusiast and drummer. He serves on the church safety and music ministry.
