Our wedding ceremony and celebration will take place in Guatapé, Colombia, a beautiful lakeside town about two hours from Medellín. ~90 minutes from the airport.
We recommend arriving in Medellín by Wednesday at the latest, as the wedding is on Thursday. You’re more than welcome to arrive earlier if you’d like! If you’re planning to arrive before Wednesday, please let us know so we can help coordinate plans.

Yes. Medellín has become one of the most vibrant and innovative cities in Latin America and while in recommended neighborhoods it is very safe. Like any major city, it’s best to use common travel awareness: • Use Uber or registered taxis • Avoid flashing valuables • Stay in recommended neighborhoods We will share recommended areas to stay and explore.
You will need a valid passport to enter Colombia. U.S. citizens do not need a visa for tourist stays under 90 days.
We will be reserving rooms available for guests (optional) at the Landmark hotel in our favorite neighborhood, Manila, located within El Poblado, Medellín’s most vibrant and walkable district. We also recommend hotel SLOH, a slightly less expensive but amazing hotel in the same pocket. If you’re booking your own accommodations, we recommend staying in one of these neighborhoods: El Poblado – lively, walkable, with great restaurants, cafés, and nightlife Laureles – a more local and relaxed area with beautiful parks and excellent cafés Most of our wedding activities throughout the weekend will be centered around El Poblado.
Our wedding attire is semi-formal (suits optional for men) Think stylish, polished, but comfortable for warm weather and an outdoor setting. For men - Linen or button-down shirts - Slacks or nice pants - Blazers optional - Loafers or dress shoes For women - Cocktail dresses, elegant summer dresses, or jumpsuits - Heels, wedges, or dressy sandals Early September in the region is warm year-round, so lighter fabrics and breathable materials are ideal. Think San Diego weather - warm during the day, chillier at night.
Medellín is a vibrant, stylish city with incredible restaurants, rooftop bars, and nightlife. Most of our time will be spent in El Poblado, the city’s most lively and walkable neighborhood. The vibe is modern, social, and fashionable, but still relaxed. People tend to dress well when going out, but it’s not overly formal. Think smart casual during the day and stylish at night.
Guatapé is a colorful lakeside town about two hours from Medellín. It’s known for its bright painted buildings, scenic reservoir views, and the famous El Peñón de Guatapé rock. The atmosphere is laid-back, scenic, and very Colombian—a mix of nature, vibrant colors, and relaxed lake culture. Expect beautiful views, sunshine, and a festive atmosphere that makes it a perfect destination for a celebration.
