All events will be outside, and rapid (antigen) testing will be required before meals together. Weather is mild (though cloudy in San Diego) and rain is highly unlikely at that time of year in both locations. While there are many inherent risks in travel, we do expect that these precautions will keep the gathering from being a major spreading event.
Please check out the ‘travel’ page on our website. We have shared a few places that you may want to consider staying. We suggest that you find a place in Julian, San Diego, or somewhere between (which would be most economical). We strongly recommend shared housing and carpooling, and please consider extending your stay and enjoying our part of California!
Please check the description of each event in the ‘Schedule’ page for suggested attire for each event.
Mission Bay Park has public parking spaces for the Welcome Dinner. We suggest you arrive earlier to ensure you will find a space. There will be parking at Villa Manzanita for the reception.
You are special to us! But not everyone at our Two Years Later Reception will know each other. That is why we are asking you to send a ‘leaf’: feel free to print a 4x6 photo of yourself and cut it out in the shape of a leaf. On this leaf, please include your name and an image and/or words that identify you (eg. student, mother, researcher etc.). But we also welcome any other texture that represents you are the place you are in currently (real leafs included). If you’re having trouble, check out this example template: https://bit.ly/3MGBalb If you won’t be at the event in person, you are welcome to mail the leaf to 3020 Cowley Way, Apt 210, San Diego, CA 92117.
