Well, 2020 didn't go as planned! After lots and lots of discussion, tears, and indecisiveness, we decided to postpone our BIG celebration until 2021. (Thanks, COVID) We decided that we couldn't wait any longer to get married so on 10/22/2020 (our 9-year anniversary), we said "I do!" It was the sweetest day ever with just the two of us (plus our videographer, photographer, and officiant). We said our vows to each other underneath the gorgeous oak trees at Audubon Park surrounded by our family and friends in spirit. We cut cake, popped a bottle of champagne, and had our first dance. Michael and Katherine met in the cutest and cheesiest way possible: a collegiate a cappella group. After being selected to join the group, Michael and Katherine (a previous member of the group) quickly became close friends. As the year progressed, the inseparable pair rolled their eyes trying to dodge everyone’s claims at their incessant flirtation. By the fall semester of 2011, Michael and Katherine couldn’t contain their growing feelings any longer and took notice of the figurative and literal harmony that they were making together. They began dating as Michael was cast in the movie Pitch Perfect and moved to Baton Rouge for the semester. Still, the couple found time to visit one another and stay deeply connected. After a brief return to Florida, Michael eventually moved to New Orleans where he had found so much enjoyment and excitement. Meanwhile, Katherine was putting her finishing touches on her life long journey and dream to become a music teacher. Once Katherine followed Michael to New Orleans, the two lovebirds found constant entertainment and fell in love with the city that would house their growing bond. It wasn’t long after living with each other as a team to realize they would be partners for life. They fit together perfectly and Michael knew he’d be asking Katherine to be with him for the rest of his life. Rooted in music and laughter, Katherine and Michael’s life together is one of immense joy, trust, and passion. They had been married in every sense of the word deprived of legality. Although Michael knew he’d eventually ask her to marry him, Katherine waited patiently (sometimes not) for the question she’d been dreaming about for years. To the delight of all their friends and family, Michael popped the question on November 16, 2019. As their journey continues and their love grows, Michael and Katherine anxiously and excitedly await the celebration of their past, present, and future together.
