Our Story

His Sister Was Our Matchmaker!

It all began in 2015, when Morgan and Chance’s paths crossed thanks to a little help from Chance’s younger sister, Kennedy, who was on the high school track team with Morgan. Despite the miles between them—Chance in Louisiana and Morgan in Texas— they connected through laughs, Snapchat, and FaceTime calls. After months of growing closer despite the distance, they made it official on October 9, 2016, and the rest, as they say, is history. When I Met Morgan... I had just finished high school and was navigating what life would look like. Kennedy mentioned this girl named Morgan and eventually shared her Instagram with me. We started talking earlier that year but lost touch for a while before reconnecting. After reconnecting, Morgan told me she would be moving to Louisiana for school and I couldn't have been happier. We continued to grow closer through our marathon phone conversations—some lasting 24 hours! Her move brought her closer to me, and I was thrilled when I accepted a job in Lake Charles, not far from her. From that point on, it was a wrap! Our relationship faced its biggest test when I decided to join the Army to further my education. We went through six long months of not being able to talk, relying on letters, and pictures of Lenox, our pup I gave her as a comfort gift before leaving. When I finally returned, our love had only grown stronger. Morgan became the love of my life, my motivator, and the one to help me realize my unlimited potential. When I Met Chance... I was a senior in high school, wrapping up my track career, when I noticed a new face in the locker room—Chance’s sister, Kennedy. We’d always pass each other in the halls, wondering 'Should I speak?' and 'Does she know'. Earlier that year, I had decided to attend college in Louisiana and it felt like fate when Chance and I reconnected. I couldn’t believe the coincidence that he still lived in Louisiana, just a few hours from where I'd be moving, despite much of his family moving to Texas. Chance was persistent! He would send me random messages throughout the day, and although I didn't pay much attention to them at first, his persistence paid off. He made me laugh and encouraged me to pursue my dreams as I adjusted to life without sports. I remember he sent me a long message on the day I packed up to leave home for Louisiana assuring me that I would be just fine adjusting to this new chapter of life. A few months into my freshman year, after countless visits and conversations, we made it official. Despite the varying distances over the years, his humor, love, and support have never wavered. We always say that only God could’ve brought us together, because who would’ve thought a random long-distance friendship would have blossomed into the love we share today?
