Amtrak leaves from Penn Station, New York City. Amtrak's Empire Service offers the most scheduled departures between Manhattan and Poughkeepsie, usually offering 7 trips per day. Somewhat faster than the Metro-North Railroad. Approx $40-$50 round trip when booked in advance.
