Things To Do

We live in the beautiful Tidewater area of Virginia. Within an hour or less there are cities like Historical Colonial Williamsburg and Yorktown to visit. You can go over any bridge and get to Virginia Beach and Norfolk. There are so many wonderful events happening in June. We will provide some pamphlets at the Historic Boxwood Inn for your adventures while you are visiting.

Wharf Hill Brewing Company

25 Main Street, Smithfield, VA 23430
, (757) 357-7100

I LOVE my former town Smithfield, VA. where we raised our children and all except one of them graduated from Smithfield High School. This is a wonderful town to visit. They have a real farmers market on Saturday. They have a real bakery on Main street where I ordered three cakes for the reception. Most of all, if you are in a mood for excellent service and good food, I invite all of my guest to visit Wharf Hill Brewing Company or as locals refer to as "Wharf Hill." Grab a pint of fresh home brew. This is a wonderful experience and is why this is my #1 Choice.

Virginia Living Museum

524 J Clyde Morris Boulevard, Newport News, VA 23601
, (757) 595-1900

For my guest with small children, this is a wonderful interactive museum with animals, plant life, birds, and sea creatures. They have a dinosaur park out back with a myriad of outdoor activities. I recommend spending time here. Your children will love it. Emily still enjoys going here with Michael and I.

The Mariners' Museum

100 Museum Drive, Newport News, VA 23606
, (757) 596-2222

For only 1 dollar----yes that is correct! You will take a historical tour of this museum rich with history about water stuff. It is absolutely a beautiful museum with a lot of boats and nautical things I have no idea because I grew up in a landlocked state. However, it's worth the trip for only a dollar. Take a walk at the Noland Trail right next to the museum.
