The venue is at 9540 Lundeen Rd. Rochester WA AKA Our house
In lieu of gifts, we’re inviting friends and family to help us create our wedding quilt. If you aren’t very experienced with sewing, that’s completely okay! This project is meant to be simple and fun, and the variety of blocks will be part of what makes the quilt so special. If you’d like to join in, please text Amy at 360-529-9426 to let her know. You’re welcome to make one block or several, just tell us how many you’d like to contribute. We’ll mail you the fabric needed to make the nine-patch blocks. We’re hoping to use the quilt at the wedding, so we kindly ask that blocks be returned by August 15th. If you’re not able to send your blocks by then, you’re welcome to bring them with you to the wedding. Those blocks will be made into a table runner. The quilt pattern is called Ring Cycles (an example is available in the gallery). It combines nine-patch blocks, triangles, and hexagons to create the appearance of circles without using any curved seams. Your nine-patch blocks will become part of this larger design.
How to make a *single* 9-patch 1. Cut 5 colored squares and 4 white squares of fabric that are 3 in by 3 in each (this allows for a ¼ in seam allowance). 2. Arrange them in a 3×3 grid so that the center and the four corner squares are colored and the four remaining squares are white. 3. Sew the squares together to create that grid pattern (nine-patch block.) 4. Your finished block should measure 8 in by 8 in before it is added to the quilt A diagram showing the layout is available in the gallery section of the website. If you’re making *multiple* blocks, there’s a helpful technique where you sew fabric strips together first and then cut them into sections before assembling the block. Here’s a helpful video demonstrating this method called Nine Patch Quilting Block – Beginner Block Quilting Series by Missouri Star. Signing Your Block- Please write your name on at least one block you make. To make your signature permanent, use a fabric marker or fabric pencil and when we receive the blocks, we’ll trace over the writing with a fabric marker to help ensure it lasts.
No, if you would like to give us a gift, there will be a honeymoon fund jar at the wedding in the reception area on the table that also has a place to put cards and you can help us make our quilt (see FAQ above).
The flower sculpture will be located on a labeled table in the same area as lunch. It will be moved to the ceremony area at 1:15. There will be some flowers in a bucket next to it in case you forgot or were unable to bring one. It is chicken wire sculpted into a shape. Stick the flower you brought into it and see the sculpture become more beautiful with every flower. Amy loved seeing this happen every year on Easter. Seeing all the different types of flowers there were, showing how many people had gathered together with flowers from their garden or the store to create a beautiful thing together.
Garden Party- Essentially semi-formal (please no tee-shirts) and be ready to be outside.
Parking is in the field behind the house. There will be signs to guide you down the drive way and then to the field.
