For those traveling from Chicago, road tripping from MN, or have some extra time, the Indiana Dunes is one of our favorite hiking spots locally. In particular trail 9 and the Cowles Bog trail - both open up to private beaches! The West Beach 3-Loop Trail offers a great pubic beach and it's where Amy and her family spent their summers growing up!
Syracuse-Wawasee Trail Loop is a 5.2 mile loop trail great for walking, running, or biking. Easily walkable from The Oakwood Resort. Reward yourself for your effort by stopping at The Channel Marker for an adult beverage on the water which is located right along the path! See Alltrails app or website for more trail information.
Rent bikes and explore the bike trails around Lake Winona a 25 minute drive from Dewart Lake. There is a well paved bike path nearby that is kid friendly, or lots of routes on the street for more experienced cyclists. Stop for a scoop of ice cream at Kelainey's Sweet Dreams after.
If you're traveling with little ones, the splash pad on Lake Winona is the perfect place to go to cool off. There's a great park, beach, and food options nearby!
Enjoy some good beers and food in a converted farm mill at Hoplore brewing.
For those of you staying "in town" The Channel Marker is the perfect spot to have a cocktail or enjoy some pub food on the water. Bonus! It's walking distance from The Oakwood Resort.
Looking for a local place with cheap drinks and a lively atmosphere right on the water? Get on your dancing shoes and look no further than The Frog Tavern, less than a five minute walk from The Oakwood Resort. Friday night's welcome event will depart from The Frog Tavern (see schedule tab for more info!).
Explore the small city of Warsaw, Indiana - a 20 minute drive from Dewart Lake. You'll find a vintage Court House with food trucks surrounding it at lunch time, hipster style boutiques, and eateries. Check out Anthology Whiskey Room, Mad Anthony Brewing Company, or Rua for some adult beverages and food.
