Portland has become a special city to both of us. Before COVID, we were planning to move there, but after consideration, we decided to move to Spokane, WA! When we visited this place, both of us felt an immediate connection to the city, something unlike we've ever experience before; almost like home away from home. Portland is a beautiful city and even though we are not moving there anymore, we still want to have our special day in this city.
Well there are two main answers for this question. The first one is that a large wedding with all the traditional aspects, costs an insane amount of money. Upwards of $15,000. With our small destination wedding we are paying a lot less for an amazing trip with our very close friends and family. Another reason the wedding has a small guest list is because we truly want the day to be about us and our love. When we were planning a big wedding with 100+ guests, it felt as though the wedding was turning into an event where we were just focusing on making sure our guests are happy. Of course we want our guests to enjoy themselves, but we also want the wedding to be solely about us and our relationship. We have so many people who love and support us, but these people have been especially close to us throughout the duration of our relationship.
Unless the invitation is addressed to your plus one as well, we really only want you at our wedding! No hard feelings we just want to make sure we know everyone and everyone knows us since it is an intimate ceremony.
We totally understand this. Life happens, and we hope by sending out our save the dates and invitations we give people enough notice to make arrangements. However, we've been there before. We know what it's like not to make it to an event because things are hard! No hard feelings.
