FAQs

Question

I signed up for Set Up, what should I expect?

Answer

We will have captains for multiple teams: decorations, seating, band, food, signage, etc. If you have physical limitations be sure to let us know. For folks who are asked/inclined toward the more physical tasks, please feel free to come dressed to work, there is a full sized (public) bathroom a few steps away to put on your finery later.

Question

Is there a hotel near by?

Answer

Yes! We did not reserve a block since there are very few out of towners, but the two we recommend are: Red Roof Inn Flatbush (close to Beverley stop of the Q train) https://www.redroof.com/property/ny/brooklyn/rri1546 Holiday Inn Downtown Brooklyn (close to the Dekalb Ave Q stop) https://www.ihg.com/holidayinn/hotels/us/en/brooklyn/lgabr/hoteldetail

Question

My partner/spouse/child isn't listed...are they invited?

Answer

YES! We wanted to get the invites out faster rather than perfect, so YES you can bring your whole family unit! For our poly friends, you and your primary partner are each invited and can +1 (or 2, whose counting?). Also obviously you can +1 a friend, a particularly funny coworker, someone who just loves weddings...

Question

I heard a rumor there isn't going to be a traditional wedding cake, what are you dessert anarchists up to?

Answer

That is correct! We have overthrown the hegemony of the cakeocracy in favor of the people's pie. In otherwords, BYOP. In other words, please consider making or purchasing a shareable item in lieu of one cake to rule them all. If you are not a baker, our favorite spots are Benchflour in Astoria, or Cinnamon Girl in Flatbush. Do not worry about making enough for everyone, equality is a lie and fairness never means eveyrone getting exactly the same pie. Contact smith.mara@gmail.com to RSVPie. *the brides cannot eat heavy dairy. Pie crust made with butter is ok, but tres leche is a no go. Also, if you can't tell, we like pie.

Question

What's the dress code?

Answer

Fancy as you want to be! But also comfortable, and comfy shoes. If you are dressing up, you might want to bring a change of clothes in case you want to cool off.

Question

The wedding is outside, do you have a real bathroom?

Answer

Yes! There is a nearby public park bathroom, you will pass it if you come from the Prospect Park train stop. There is also a larger facility at Lefrak Skating Rink. As they are public, for your comfort you might want to buddy up.

Question

Will I Be Required to Sing

Answer

No, but think about how great it would be if you did.

Question

Is there a way to get Amy to stop talking about park trivia?

Answer

If there is, we don't know it.
